Ferris State University Racquet and Fitness Center

Our Facilities

The Ferris State University Racquet & Fitness Center is full service facility intended to serve Ferris students, Ferris employees and the Big Rapids community. In addition, it serves as a laboratory for students in the Professional Tennis Management (PTM) program. To help them prepare for their careers, PTM students staff the club approximately 120 hours/year.

Hours of Operation

Pro Shop - We carry Ferris fitness apparel, racquets, accessories, shoes and more. We can meet all of your stringing needs with a wide selection of string choices.

Fitness Center - Cybex modular equipment, 15 pieces of Magnum Selectorized equipment, StairMasters, Cybex recumbent bikes, Precor & Matrix Ellipitical machines, and Concept II rowing machines

Tennis Courts - 4 indoor and 10 outdoor tennis courts and 2 outdoor clay courts

Racquetball Courts - 3 Glass back courts.

Racquetball courts are also available to book for Wallyball

Tanning Beds - 2 Tanning beds

The Sportwall Arena - The Sportwall Arena is an interactive tennis backboard that is programmed electronically to offer skill and training opportunities with a variety of measurable improvements. A former racquetball court has been converted to a training center court, dedicated completely to its use.

The electronic scoreboard allows the athlete to realize improvements in strength, skill and speed through a variety of games that are applicable to many different performance areas, such as:

Reaction Time
Footwork
Focus & Concentration
Ball Control & Placement
Visual/Motor Organization
Agility & Flexibility
Sensory Integration

Saunas- Saunas are available in both the men's and women's locker rooms.

Lockers - Students & members may use the lockers while at our facilities. We recommend that you bring your own lock. The facilities are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please remove your lock and items when leaving the building.

Towels- Towels are available at the front desk. A valid form of ID can be left at the front desk for towel use. There will be a $3 charge for towels not returned.
